Squaw Leap Loop

Alan, Bryan, Sarah, and I went hiking this past weekend. We hiked the Squaw Leap Loop near Auberry. It was much longer and harder than we anticipated, but still beautiful. At least 3 of us were sore that night and the next day. Pictures here.

Valentine's Day weekend

Alan and I enjoyed our whirlwind trip to Santa Barbara. Pics here. I'll defer details of the weekend to Alan's blog (check sidebar). I'm tired.

Also, I need a new countdown idea. Any thoughts?

Our Valentine's Day weekend

Today Alan and I spent 2 hours trying to find a hotel in Santa Barbara for next weekend. Because Valentine's Day is in the middle of the week, most hotels have blacked out the weekend after. You can only reserve rooms for the whole weekend, not just for one night. Finally we found Hotel Santa Barbara. At first we were both skeptical when the guy offered us a room for $67 with a bathroom down the hall. But then he offered us a king room 'suite' that is a larger room that has a bathroom. Hopefully this bathroom has a shower. At least the website makes the place look nice. The room only cost $99, and it sounds like this hotel is one of the only places that will let you stay only one night this next weekend. Since neither of us have ever been to Santa Barbara, it will be our big adventure weekend. We've picked out our Saturday day hike. The rest of our time is up in the air. If anyone has good suggestions for restaurants or nightlife, hit me up.

Back report!

So first injection is done.

Colleen and I arrived and sat in the waiting room for much less time than on previous days. I went back for the nerve conduction test and boy was that uncomfortable. It was like being stabbed in your shin multiple times. After that, I got a shot of Versed (sedative) and Toradol (an anti-inflammatory) to reduce tension and increase ease of the procedure. After standing up and feeling a bit drunk I had to climb on the table. That was interesting. Shots hurt like a mother f$&%er. Dear God. No pain right now though. No numbness. Just tenderness where there Versed and Toradol shots were. Alls good.

Back update!

I went to the surgeon today. He says that I have degenerative disk disease and arthritis. Doesn't appear severe enough for surgery at this time (whew!). He does recommend I do steroid injections. So on Thursday, I will be getting a nerve conduction test (I should probably shave my legs for that) and my first injections. Apparently I will be getting two injections. One will be an epidural injection and the other a facet injection. They also give you a 'mild sedative' so I'm not allowed to drive myself home. I think Colleen is taking me for this week's injection. However, I did learn at work today that the 'mild sedative' is Valium. Sorry, but I don't consider that mild. No wonder they won't let me drive. Jeesh. Until Thursday...that is your back update!

You love give me such a thrill/But you love won't pay my bills/I want money (that's what I want)

I just paid off my student loans. I've never paid anything off before. I'm not really sure what to do with myself actually. That's been over my head for almost 10 years. Crazy.

It makes me sound too important...

Our company has recently created a new job position at work. It is called Therapy Service Unit Manager. Our facility will have 2 since we have such a large amount of staff and caseload. Basically I was given one of the positions because I am already doing the schedule and am the primary person managing the Medicare Part A and HMO treatment books (primarily the short term rehab candidates). The other position will manage the long term patient caseloads (Medicare and HMO Part B). I'm supposed to get a raise at some point. Sarah, Aimee, Colleen, and a few others are calling me 'supervisor'. It is creepy. The upside is, I'm going to get paid for managing my caseload, as well as, the extras I've been doing. I like raises. They buy plane tickets to Ohio and gas to LA.

Did you see? 3 posts in 3 days. How am I doing with my quota? :)
