Early Xmas at work...

So here is a bizarre twist of events. Effective April 1 of this year our company decided to limit pay raises to an average of 1% per department to offset anticipated losses. Therefore, when you figure in all the staff that doesn't get raises, each full time staff got a 2% raise this year. If any of you remember, right before we were told they were cutting our raises, the company congratulated our staff on being the highing grossing building in the company. Seemed a big slap in the face. Many of us were pretty angry, and were looking to find 'better' work. Last week our boss showed me and a couple other people how much our building grossed each month. I don't remember the figure, but it was in the hundred thousands range. It was tremendous. Anyhoo, last night I got my pay stub in the mail. I had an unexplained pay raise and retro pay. Apparently, because the company did not have the losses they foresaw, they rewarding employees the stayed with the company with the remaining 1% raise they didn't get and retro paid them to their original raise date. So I got a 'second' raise this year and nearly $400 in back pay. I think I might even be responsible and put it in savings.
